Day 9: Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge

This wasn't the best of days out taking pictures and all; factor in I'm getting physically tired after nine straight days of hiking around .... But this afternoon I packed up Charlie dog and out we went to the Klamath Marsh Refuge.

The pictures above and below is of the Refuge. Even with the clouds and wind the birds were out all over the place! I even found a cool camping spot I must check out further another day!

On the way home we passed through Wilson Flat, A great name for a place I must say. ;-) Just one day left until school starts back up ... A trip to Collier for Fathers Day is in order, thanks to Melissa and Hannah.

The school that I'm now attending have as their nich name the "Badgers" and the motto of, "Its a great day to be a badger!" Something about that cracks me up, although its perhaps a tad distirning ... Be that as it may ... This is SO, um......mindlessly disturbing and annoying......but it's REALLY COOL!! Oh just watch.

The "old" badger thing is here ... and it lasts 60 minutes, or so I'm told! I've only made it 5 minutes before meltdown ....

Now this story has to rank pretty high on the "Whats next!" scale ...

School bans the word school!

THE head of a new school has banned the word “school” — in case it upsets pupils’ parents.

Watercliffe Meadow is known as a “Place for Learning” because staff say “school” has a negative impact on some mums and dads. The new £4.7million academy in Sheffield, South Yorks, replaced three old schools. Its 481 pupils, from nursery to Year 6, are allowed to wear slippers instead of shoes.

Headteacher Linda Kingdon said: “We decided we didn’t want to use the word ‘school’.
“One reason was many parents of children here had very negative connotations of school.

“Instead we want this to be a place for family learning.

“There are no bells or locked doors. We wanted to de-institutionalise the place and bring the school closer to real life.”

Lets see ... Prisons are no longer prisons but holding facilities for wayward people .... You know the slipper idea seems kinda cool though!
